Just a short drive from the resort, its beach doubles as one of the busiest fishing harbours on this stretch of the Konkan — trawlers unload at dawn, and the beach auction that follows is loud, fast, and unmistakably real. Bullock carts still haul the morning’s catch up from the sand, a sight that has barely changed in generations. Come for the quiet stretch of shore in the evening, or time it for sunrise to watch the whole working coastline come alive.

Suvarnadurg sits offshore, a sea fort built by the Maratha navy to guard this coastline — reachable only by a short boat ride from Harnai, which is part of the appeal. The crossing itself is worth the trip: open water, fishing boats passing close, and the fort’s weathered ramparts rising ahead. Inside, freshwater ponds and old fortifications tell a quieter story of a coastline that once mattered strategically, not just scenically.

Ladghar Beach

Ladghar keeps a lower profile than its neighbours, and that’s exactly its draw — a long, mostly empty stretch of sand backed by casuarina trees, with the kind of quiet that’s increasingly rare on this coast. It’s an easy half-day trip: pack a mat, walk the shoreline, and let the tide set the pace. Birdwatchers occasionally turn up here too, drawn by the same stillness.

Murud Beach

This Murud isn’t the fort town near Alibag — it’s a smaller, quieter beach near Dapoli, tucked along the same coastal road as Karde. Tide pools here are worth a slow look: starfish and small reef life turn up in the shallows at low tide, alongside the usual pleasures of an uncrowded Konkan beach — soft sand, casuarina shade, and a horizon with nothing on it.

Karde Beach & Keshavraj Temple

Karde pairs an open, easy-to-reach beach with a temple worth the detour inland. Keshavraj Temple, dedicated to Lord Vishnu, sits at the end of a forest road — the drive in is half the experience, shaded and unhurried, before it opens onto the temple grounds. Combine the two: a morning on Karde’s sand, an afternoon under the temple’s tree cover.

Anjarle Beach & Kadyawarcha Ganpati Temple

Anjarle’s beach is one of the least disturbed on this stretch of coast, framed by a small creek where fishing boats sit moored. Above it, on a headland, sits Kadyawarcha Ganpati — “the Ganpati on the cliff” — a temple positioned for exactly the view its name promises. Time it for late afternoon: the beach empties out, and the walk up to the temple catches the coast in a different light.

It’s an informal, weather-dependent outing rather than a scheduled tour — ask locally about that morning’s conditions, and expect an hour or two on the water rather than a guaranteed sighting.

Kelshi Beach & Mahalaxmi Temple

Kelshi combines a wide, working beach with one of the region’s more significant temples — Mahalaxmi Mandir, an old shrine to the goddess Lakshmi that draws visitors from well beyond the village. The beach itself stretches long and flat, backed by the everyday rhythm of a fishing village going about its business. Visit the temple first, then let the beach close out the day.

Unhavare Hot Springs

A little further inland, Unhavare holds one of the Konkan’s natural hot water springs — geothermally warmed pools that locals have used for generations, believed to ease aches after a day on the road. It’s a low-key stop, more local custom than tourist attraction, and worth the detour for something genuinely different from a beach day.

Velas Turtle Festival

Time a winter visit right (November through March), and the coast has its rarest story to tell. Velas is a known nesting ground for Olive Ridley turtles, and every season the village runs a community-led turtle festival to protect the nests and let visitors witness hatchlings make their first journey to the sea. It’s a longer trip from the resort, but a genuinely uncommon nature encounter — book ahead, since local conservation groups control access to protect the nesting sites.
